State Chamber Research Foundation Comments on Occupational Licensing Bills

March 13, 2019

State Chamber Research Foundation Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Lepard released the following statement after three occupational licensing bills passed out of their chambers of origin:

“The State Chamber Research Foundation is pleased that strategic measures that will further the important conversation about occupational licensing reform in Oklahoma have advanced at the state capitol. HB 1094, SB 670 and HB 2134 all reduce unnecessary obstacles to licensure so Oklahomans face fewer barriers to employment. These bills are based on recommendations made by the Occupational Licensing Advisory Commission, a newly formed entity championed through our OK2030 initiative. We are thankful to the Commission, Representative Cyndi Munson, Representative Mike Osburn and Senator Adam Pugh for their work on these vital bills. We look forward to continued occupational licensing reform measures to ensure that Oklahomans aren’t being needlessly hindered in their efforts to find employment, provide for their families and contribute to our state’s economy.”
